The Quirky Poll 2025

Hello everyone

Welcome to The Quirky Poll 2025!

Before we move onto The Poll itself, we warmly welcome RMweb contributor - and professional web developer - Mark Goodge, who has very kindly stepped in to construct the 'computerised elements' of The Poll that the late Andy York used to undertake for us. We also thank Phil Parker and RMweb for enabling The Poll to run here.

The Quirky Poll 2025 is for 4mm:1ft (1/76) scale models (both 00 and Narrow Gauge).

You may tick as many items as you like, but - although this is 'a little bit of Christmas fun' - they must be items that you would realistically wish to buy if they were ever made (as you do with The 00 Wishlist Poll).

It is not to decide 'the quirkiest'!

You will find on the next page a list of 25 items - some of which are your suggestions from 2023 - each with a link to a photo and/or further detail. We haven't listed certain suggestions as models are already available - albeit from overseas makers.

The Quirky Poll Results have an enviable track record... the Top Item from 2019 - Stephenson's Rocket - has been made, as have the Top Two of the 2020 Poll - Bellerophon and Titfield Thunderbolt - as well as the Top Item of the 2021 Poll - the Streamlined B17.

Furthermore, our first draft for 2023 listed the Port of Par locos but we had to delete those due to Rapido announcing them just before we 'went live'; these were followed quickly in 2024 with Hornby's Locomotion (which was High Polling) and Rapido's Ivor the Engine (which was second overall).

Will you pick some more winners this year?

OK... stop working and get quirking! You have until 18.00 on Wednesday 31 December 2025 to vote. Only one entry per person is permitted.

We aim to publish the results in the usual Poll Team format as soon as we can on 1 January 2026 - look for the title: Results - The Quirky Poll 2025.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
